Asian Universities Association carried out National Sports Competition

Student National Sports Competition of Asian Universities Association “Sports Without Borders” was held in the framework of the III International Educational Forum “Altai-Asia 2016” in the gym hall of Altai State University on 21–23 September 2016.

The event was organized by Joint Student Council and ASU Student League. Shortly before the tournament the Organizing Committee hosted an informal meeting with participating teams in order to familiarize sportsmen with the competition rules and exchange experience with instructors from member countries of Asian Universities Association.

The competition participants included representatives of 8 member countries of Asian Universities Association: Russia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Armenia, and Mongolia. The total number of attendees with sportsmen, organizers, delegators and supporters was over 300 people.

Sportsmen’s registration was carried out at the venue and on Lomonosov youth scientific portal.

The participants were to measure their strength in 8 sports. The unique distinction of each sport lied in historical reference to sport traditions of each member country of Asian Universities Association. The list of sports was as follows:

  • Felt boot throwing (Russia);
  • Hands-free volleyball (Thailand);
  • Archery (Mongolia);
  • Navasard games (Armenia);
  • Darts (Kyrgyzstan);
  • Tug of war (Tajikistan);
  • Table tennis (China);
  • Stick pulling (Kazakhstan).

The atmosphere of competition was saturated with the spirit of unity and enthusiasm. Every team wanted to show its leadership in sport traditional for its country.

At the end of the serious championship the winners were found:

  • Archery – National Team of Kazakhstan;
  • Navasard games – Titan team (Tajikistan);
  • Darts – Stallions team (Kazakhstan);
  • Tug of war – National Team of Kazakhstan;
  • Table Tennis – Dream team (Tajikistan and China);
  • Hands-free volleyball – Titan (Tajikistan);
  • Stick pulling – Combat Construction Brigade (Armenia);
  • Felt boot throwing – Team of Faculty of Mass Communication, Philology and Political Science (Tajikistan and Russia).

Team scoring was also conducted at the competition and the participants were classified in the following way:

  1. National Team of Kazakhstan – 37 points;
  2. Dream team (Tajikistan and China) – 35 points;
  3. Titan team (Tajikistan) – 31 points.

The winners and participants of individual and team classification were awarded with commemorative prizes and handout materials from the festival organizing committee.
