On 4 October “Under the Open Sky” Ecological Club celebrated World Animal Day by conducting educational classes on ecology at school.

World Animal Day is an international day for action for animal rights and welfare. It is aimed at attracting attention of world’s people to animals’ problems. The holiday is celebrated annually on 4 October.

The number of animal species on earth decreases year by year due to various reasons. It often happens because of human actions. That is why it is necessary to instill in children a love of nature and environment preservation.

Ecological club members told the pupils when and what for this day had been established and why it was necessary to protect animals. The pupils participated enthusiastically, answered questions and brought up unusually serious issues and variants for problem solution.

Ecological club representatives also touched upon the history of the holiday, endangered species and our capabilities for preserving the biodiversity we have.

World Animal Day combines efforts of people to preserve fauna of our planet. Don’t remain uninvolved, everyone can help!

“We carried out a lesson for pupils on 4 October. They worked actively, discussed the problems, voiced their own thoughts, but most importantly they listened attentively and answered the questions. I enjoy working with children and telling them why it is important to take care of everything that surrounds us. I would teach a class one more time with great pleasure,” said ecological club member Kristina Medvedeva.
