INST is a student association established in 2015. The members include Altai State University students from Russia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, China and other countries. INST participants are always busy, but September 2016 has been especially rich in interesting events.

Firstly, INST students took part in International Tourist Sport Rafting Festival for SCO Countries. It was held on 9–11 September and brought together student teams from Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan. These days were filled with warmth, sun and wonderful impressions.

Students from different countries became friends very quickly due to rafting down the rapid and stepped Katun River, camping and campfire cooking. Intensive program of the rafting festival did not allow time for relaxing or contemplating beautiful surrounding nature, as there were a lot of competitions, excursions, games and multi-language concerts. Nobody was bored!

INST leaders team named Hailun after its captain primarily consisted of Chinese students. The organizers added 2 students from Russia and Tajikistan to the team in order to uphold the fair-play principle. Representatives of Altai State University did not win the competition, nevertheless everyone noted their concerted efforts and devotion.

Another event took place on 29 September, when competitions for the coziest room and the cleanest kitchen in the place of Chinese students’ living (dormitory № 4).

The competition turned out to be very cheerful and useful in terms of cleaning the dormitory and creating the comfortable atmosphere. Every participant received a prize from the bonus fund, which consisted of large pumpkins and zucchinis, pens, notebooks, badges and pendants with university symbols on them. For the record, pumpkins and zucchinis are widely used in Chinese cuisine.

On the next day INST members went to Lake Teletskoye. That Saturday was wonderful and unforgettable: comfortable and clean hotel, trip to the picturesque waterfalls by motor boat, hiking to the mountain rivers, successful fishing for pikes, barbecue, real Russian baths with birch brooms and singing songs to the guitar did not leave the students indifferent. It’s amazing how one day could consist of so many bright activities. The photos can only show a little part of the magic that took place, there were a lot of pleasant moments and emotions left off-screen.

On Sunday the students visited Gorno-Altaysk and Manzherok. However, the weather began turning nasty and it started to rain, which did not allow exploring the place.

On the way back the excursionists tried pasties in Srostki, sang songs in English, Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese and Japanese according to the new tradition of INST, and even listened to the musical improvisation with a mouth harmonica. Students and lecturers of Altai State University returned home on Sunday evening.

Such communicational meetings are occasionally organized by INST. Last year there were 7 similar events carried out. The fascinating trips narrow the distance between people, give energy and inspire to work and study hard. We invite everybody to join the university and its enthusiastic students and employees!
