ASU hosted the 5th Modular School in Robotics for Altai Krai Pupils “Young Engineer” from 31 October till 5 November. The event was organized by Altai State University, Altai Krai Center for Informational and Technical Work and Center for Youth Innovative Creativity for schoolers interested in engineering, modelling and programming. The school is held two times a year during autumn and spring school holidays.

The Young Engineer School was carried out in two different directions. Robotics workshop was organized on the premises of Altai State University, and 3D Modelling workshop took place at Altai State Agricultural University.

The participants included 27 pupils from all over Altai Krai, mainly from the remote regions and villages. They had been involved in work with lecturers and students of Altai universities, teachers of Altai schools and employees of innovative centers for almost a week. According to the specialists, who worked with the schoolers, they managed to organize the educational process effectively enough for the children to achieve good results.

“In the framework of the school we have provided the children with the basic knowledge in robotics, which is especially useful for the enthusiastic pupils from remote areas, told them about the life of Altai State University and Faculty of Physics and Technology, showed them ASU laboratories’ work and conducted meetings with scientists and students,” said Senior Lecturer of the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronics, curator of the school Vasiliy V. Belozerskikh. “We have been working with Lego Mindstorms EV3. It is a robotics set, which allows building and programming your own Lego robots. Everything depends only on children’s imagination and skills.”

Apart from studying, the school program included different trainings and excursions.

On 5 November 2016 the 5th Modular School in Robotics for Altai Krai Pupils “Young Engineer” finished working. The pupils received the School Completion Certificates. In February 2017 they are to take part in Robotics Competition organized by Altai State University.
