On 9–10 November 2016 the World Trade Center Moscow hosted the International Forum “The 25th Anniversary of CIS: Understanding, Cooperation, Development” organized by Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for the CIS Issues, Living Abroad Compatriots and International Humanitarian Cooperation). ASU Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman I. Raikin participated in the event.

Other participants included representatives of different CIS organizations, Russian federal and regional authorities, non-commercial and non-governmental institutions and business entities, as well as diplomats, social and cultural workers of the CIS states.

Taking into account active role of Altai State University in educational and scientific cooperation development in CIS countries including that in the framework of Asian Universities Association, ASU was chosen to act as a moderator of the roundtable “Relevant Instruments and Prospects for Inter-University Collaboration in the territory of CIS”. The university also took an active part in the forum discussion session dedicated to “Generation Next” program. In particular, R.I. Raikin delivered a report on the International Forum of Asian Youth Leaders “Altai-Asia”, which had been successfully conducted on the premises of Altai State University.

Moreover, Altai State University presented its activity line in education and its work on cooperation with Asian countries.

Rossotrudnichestvo reminds about the fact that the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) celebrates the 25th anniversary in 2016. This organization has made a long way from centrifugal trends and searching for ideal cooperation forms to establishing institutes and mechanisms adapted to the needs of multilateral interaction. The work on strengthening historically formed economic, political and cultural relations has been carried out for a quarter century. Today the CIS states solve the general issues in such fields as social and economic development, integration of the countries and humanitarian activity.
