Yesterday, on 25 January 2016, Altai State University held Russian Student Day celebrations. ASU organized Tatiana Day open-air dedicated to the holiday and beat 14 student records.

The celebration started with a speech by ASU Rector, chairman of Rectors Council of Altai Krai and Altai Republic Sergey V. Zemlyukov and Empress Elizabeth of Russia, who established the first Russian university.

By tradition, ASU Rector treated everyone to delicious pancakes and sbiten (hot Russian traditional drink made of water, honey and spices). This year the cooking process was turned into a show – the list of ingredients for sbiten included everything that makes up student life (scientific symbols, record books, sleepless nights and student identification cards). Everyone could taste the unusual drink. Sbiten was poured by ASU Rector himself, while pancakes were offered to the guests by beautiful girls dressed up in XVIII century dresses.

Russian Student Day was also a day of student records. 14 student records were set yesterday. Altai State University chose the most dexterous, intelligent, smiling and contagiously laughing students, held different competitions and entertained the guests in every possible way. In short, the day was filled with fun, energy and happiness.

Russian Student Day ended with a flash mob performed by the students of Altai State University. Over 400 students of different age and nationality made up a chain around campus D of the university and embraced it.
