III Student Congress for the Peoples of Central Asia

The III Student Congress for the Peoples of Central Asia is held at Altai State University on 16–17 March 2017. The opening ceremony will take place tomorrow. The event is confined to the national holiday of Persian and Turkic peoples called Nowruz.

The participants will include over 700 youth leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and China. The congress has been initiated and organized by the Association of International Students (AIST) and supported by ASU administration. It has already become a traditional event, which contains scientific, educational, social, cultural, creative and sport components.

This year the participants will pay special attention to the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students, which is to be held in Sochi in October 2017. Foreign students of Altai State University and guests from other universities of Altai Krai will present their projects oriented at the participation in the festival and submit applications for becoming participants or volunteers.

The congress program will include exhibition of objects of Central Asian peoples’ material culture, photographic exhibition dedicated to the culture of Central Asia, the 2nd regional competition in the history of Russia and Central Asia for foreign students studying at Altai universities, international conference, international youth sport festival, ethnic food tasting and youth cultural festival.
