Russian pupils have spring break from school from 27 March 2017 to 2 April 2017. Altai State University decided to arrange a number of classes and workshops during the break and invited pupils in grades 4–6 to participate.

“Altai State University has organized such event for the 7th time. We usually invite pupils during their spring break and teach the basics of robotics and information technologies to them. We provide them with fundamental knowledge in programming, robotics and IT in general. Of course, not all of them will choose robotics as their vocation in future. However, our experience shows that the majority of these pupils enter technical faculties at universities,” said Vice Dean for Extracurricular Work of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Vasyli V. Belozerskih.

The program includes classes in robotics on the basis of LEGO, programming of android robots, different practical tasks, experiments and excursions. Moreover, Altai State University carries out training for teachers in the area of children technical creativity. They will learn more about the prospects for the development of IT industry.

“We will be teaching children for the whole week. At the end of the week we will hold the competition of robots. Children, who come to participate in our workshops, are usually unprepared. They know little information about engineering and see the robotic construction sets for the first time, but after our classes they can assemble and program a robot all by themselves,” explained Vasyli V. Belozerskih.

The classes started on 27 March 2017 and will last for the whole week.
