The Chuysky Trakt mobile application has become available for download on Android and IOS. This audio guide is the result of the work of a large team of specialists from Altai State University, who have used the most advanced achievements in the field of GIS technologies and Web programming. The project was implemented with the support of the Russian Geographical Society.

The application is designed for tourists traveling along Chuysky Tract, one of the ten most picturesque roads on the planet. Officially, the federal highway R-256 "Novosibirsk-Biysk-Tashanta" is called Chuysky Tract. It stretches from Novosibirsk to the Mongolia-Russia border.

The application is a map with 125 objects marked. Using geopositioning, the system displays the position of the user on the map, and as it approaches the next place of interest, it announces information about it and provides a photo. It works even in places where there is no GSM coverage - for this, the first time you start, you need to download the maps and tourist sites.

“The application provides the tourist with a choice of how to get to the Altai Mountains. For example, you can choose the route of the old Chuysky Tract (from Biysk it passes near the confluence of the Biya and Katun, through the villages of Sovetskoye, Altaiskoye, Komarsky Pass and connects to the modern tract in Cherga). There is Chuysky Tract-2, which goes past Belokurikha through the Denisova cave, Ust-Kan and connects with Chuysky Tract near the village of Tuekta. Not only cultural and natural monuments are marked on the map. For example, we tell about an airstrip near Barnaul on Chuysky Trakt. Or about a good spot for mushrooms near the village of Troitskoye, what mushrooms can be purchased and when. The developers of the application went through the entire route themselves, studied the objects, took photos, a lot of work has been done. You can learn about the project and its participants on the website https://turtrakt.asu.ru/,” said Alexander Dunets.

The day before, Alexander Dunets presented the Chuysky Trakt mobile application for the first time at the Siberian Tourism Forum, which brought together the tourism business and associations, authorities and other interested communities from the regions of Russia and other countries on one site at the Novosibirsk Expocentre to discuss and resolve pressing issues in the tourism industry and the field of hospitality.

“Our section discussed the issue of national tourist routes. It was suggested that such an itinerary should ideally include not only one region. And our route, presented in the application, is one of the few that includes three regions - Altai Krai, the Altai Republic and Novosibirsk Oblast. The section chairman noted that Chuysky Tract and the mobile guide are in fact the basis of a good national tourist route, it connects the regions of Siberia, this is a platform where you can add additional information,” said Alexander Dunets.
