Vladimir Malikov, an associate professor of the Department of General and Experimental Physics of the Institute of Digital Technology, Electronics and of AltSU, is participating in the VII All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum "Science of the Future - Science of the Young". The event is taking place at Novosibirsk State Technical University.

The forum includes 10 scientific areas. An associate professor of the Department of General and Experimental Physics Vladimir Malikov is participating in the section "New materials and design methods". On the first day of the forum, on August 23, as part of the poster session, he has presented a project that a team from AltSU scientists is working on - "Subminiature eddy current transducer for the study of metal welds."

- Our device is unique due to its miniature size. It has a size of about five hundred millimeters and thanks to this it allows finding very small defects in welds, which are practically impossible to detect by any other methods. Detecting these defects is extremely important, since they can lead to the destruction of the weld and the entire product - these can be pipelines operating under high pressure, aviation equipment in conditions of ultra-high speed, and ships of the Navy. The task of controlling welds is quite relevant in modern industry, says Vladimir Malikov.

The device was developed on the basis of the methods of an associate professor Sergei Dmitriev, Professor Anatoly Sagalakov. Vladimir Malikov has been engaged in these developments for about 10 years. He told about his work.

Now the device operates under the control of modern software and hardware, it has a signal improvement system, due to which it becomes possible to distinguish groups of defects. I want to note that similar devices are available in the market, but devices of this class of foreign production cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Our device is about a hundred thousand rubles. This development of AltSU scientists aroused great interest among the participants and guests of the forum, says Vladimir Malikov.

The All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum "Science of the Future - Science of the Young" is a large-scale event of federal significance that provides an opportunity for professional scientific communication with the world's leading scientists from 25 countries, including Nobel and Fields Prize winners. The intensive business program includes more than 30 strategic sessions, panel discussions, and round tables dedicated to the development of science in Russia. Leading and young scientists, representatives of the scientific and educational community, student scientific and professional associations, scientific foundations and specialized agencies are invited to participate.
