The strategic project of Altai State University "Sustainable Development of Altai Territories in the Transboundary Space" has become a center of attraction for youth scientific and business ideas on the socio-economic development of municipalities.

To expand the opportunities for participation of young scientists and active youth, the service "Aggregator of Initiative Projects" was created on the project website. It allows anyone who wants to send their idea or project to university experts and become part of the project team for its implementation. The proposed projects can become part of the development strategy of Altai Krai.

For more than two years, Strathproject of Altai State University has been combining the research of the flagship university for economic growth and social development of Altai Krai. The project team includes experts from MIEMIS, the Institute of Geography, leading entrepreneurs and scientists of the region. Particular attention in the project is paid to interaction with representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as young scientists of the region.

Thanks to the strategic project, Altai State University was included in the international University Impact Rankings of the British journal "Times Higher Education" three times, along with such leading Russian universities as Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.

Results of the strategic project "Sustainable Development of Altai Territories in the Transboundary Space" for 2021

• As a result of cooperation between Altai State University experts and regional administrations, strategies for the socio-economic development of Smolensky, Sovetsky, and Altaisky districts were adopted - territories of the foothill zone with the potential for integration and development of cooperation between districts due to the close location of territorial centers in the cities of Belokurikha and Biysk. The presence of a strategy for the socio-economic development of the municipality provides additional opportunities for municipalities to enter support programs at the national, regional level, which is important in conditions of insufficient resources for the implementation of municipal social and economic programs.

• A team of experts from Altai State University under the leadership of Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development, Doctor of Geographical Sciences Alexander Dunetz developed the concept of an inter-municipal project based on the expansion and development of the resort and tourist cluster "Bolshaya Belokurikha" and tourist organizations.

• Another inter-municipal project, useful for the economy of Altai Krai, is the master plan of the tourist and recreational cluster (TRC) "Katun". The project involves the active participation of local residents and the attraction of investors for the development of a network of eco-routes and the search for new ways of sustainable development of the left bank of the Katun River

• For Altaisky District, experts from Altai State University proposed the project "Antler Altai". It involves the unification of the potential of maral breeding farms - the creation of a single network of tourist routes linking maral farms and the sights of the region, thematic zoning of locations, the formation and promotion of a brand of antler tourism in the Altai region. The project received a lively response and the desire of farms to participate in its implementation.

• The project of using a digital platform based on GIS technologies to form an interactive map of agricultural producers and unique products of Altai Krai regions, tourist organizations and the development of new tourist routes may become very popular for the regions in 2021.

•Achievement of sustainable development goals is impossible without youth, public initiatives, and high-quality educational projects. A team of MIEMIS experts and the Center for the Development of Technological Entrepreneurship, Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Management of Altai State University are promoting educational programs for additional education and the development of entrepreneurial competencies in local communities through the implementation of the cluster of social and educational projects "Green Vector of Altai". It is a school for the basics of entrepreneurship and financial literacy. The coverage of schoolchildren and young entrepreneurs in these projects is more than 200 people.

Experts of the strategic project of Altai State University are sure that:

“The experience of working with pilot municipalities in creating cases of the best economic, social, and environmental projects should be developed when working on strategies and projects of other municipalities of Altai Krai, deepening competencies in accelerating projects, organizing inter-municipal interaction, entering interregional cooperation, and interaction in the framework of development of the macroregion."
