AltSU discusses the Agenda of Cooperation with Indian Universities

The working trip of the delegation of Altai State University to the Republic of India continues. The members of the delegation from Altai State University are Rector Sergey Bocharov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman Raikin and Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development Alexander Dunets. On March 13 and 14, AltSU representatives had meetings with universities in Delhi.

On Monday, March 13, the delegation of AltSU visited the oldest college of Delhi University - Hansraj College. This college is the founding college of the University of Delhi and the headquarters of international cooperation. The leaders of the college, Professor Rama and Professor Chander Shekar, expressed their sincere interest in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with AltSU and the start of academic exchanges of students and teachers lasting up to one semester.

Professor Rama gratefully accepted the invitation of Sergey Bocharov to visit AltSU in May and take part in the anniversary events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the university.

On Tuesday, March 14, the delegation of AltSU visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University. The first Vice-Rector of the university, Professor Chandra Garkoti, acquainted the guests with the leading educational and scientific areas of the university. Representatives of AltSU talked with specialists from the Center for the Study of the Russian language. An agreement was reached on methodological assistance to the center from the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language of the Institute of Humanities of AltSU.

Detailed presentation of projects in the field of biotechnology, genomic research, biodiversity research, medicinal crop production, space remote sensing, environmental protection (in particular, natural and agricultural areas), and carbon neutrality projects were given in the Schools of Biotechnology of Jawaharlal Nehru University under the direction of Dean, Professor Sunil Kateriya, as well as the School of Environmental Sciences, headed by Dean Professor Paularge. The parties came to the conclusion that in these areas the research groups of Altai State University and the Jawaharlal Nehru University deal with similar problems. In the near future, it is planned to organize webinars to agree on joint projects in the designated areas.

The Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research organized a round table to meet the AltSU delegation, who presented the leading directions of the institute, as well as the Incubation and Innovation Foundation. Rector of AltSU Sergey Bocharov in his speech outlined the prospects for cooperation between AltSU scientists and Indian colleagues. Rector of the Institute, Professor Ramesh Gayal, especially noted the good opportunities in terms of the joint development of medicines and functional food products based on plant raw materials and their introduction to the markets of different countries, and also expressed interest in general in the AltSU strategic project on health saving.

Then, Rector of Altai State University Sergey Bocharov and Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman Raikin visited one of the largest and most effective Indian funds for supporting innovation and technology transfer - FITT, established at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. A detailed exchange of views took place with Managing Director of the Foundation, Dr. Anil Vali, on building mechanisms for effective interaction between universities and industrial partners, including through support for start-ups, formation of research teams, ensuring legal protection of intellectual property, etc. Specific proposals regarding cooperation in the development, production and marketing of enzymes for the food industry, since the experience and potential of Indian developers and manufacturers in this area is quite good.

Aleksander Dunets, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development of AltSU, visited Amity University, where he met with Rector, Professor Balvinder Shukra and leaders of scientific fields. Amity University is one of the leading private universities in India, where the transfer of technologies developed by research teams to the real sector of the economy is carried out at a high level. In areas of mutual interest, detailed discussions of cooperation are planned with the participation of project team leaders.

In addition to discussing bilateral cooperation projects, the delegation of Altai State University, on behalf of the Russian Union of Rectors, made a proposal to leading Indian universities to organize a Forum of Rectors of Russian and Indian Universities in Moscow in early 2024.
