AltSU to train specialists of youth tourism for free

On September 12, Altai State University signed a state contract with the Altai Territory Department for the Development of Tourism and Resort Activities for the provision of a range of educational services for training personnel in the field of tourism. On the basis of the Department of Recreational Geography, Service, Tourism and Hospitality of the Institute of Geography of Altai State University, a training program for improving the skills of children and youth tourism specialists “Organizer of Children and Youth Tourism in Altai Krai” will be implemented.

Ksenia Ikonnikova, Vice-Rector for Extracurricular Activities and Additional Education of AltSU, explains:

– Classes will be conducted by professional and experienced teachers with specialized education in the field of tourist and excursion activities and the organization of cultural and leisure programs, as well as specialists in the safety of youth tourism with experience in organizing sports trips, local history expeditions, tourist events with students.

Program Manager, Head of the Department of Recreational Geography, Service, Tourism and Hospitality of Altai State University Natalya Bitter says:

– Our educational program solves several problems at once: it is the improvement of the quality of services provided by the organizers of youth tourism in Altai Krai and the creation of new, competitive, well-developed and relevant youth tourism projects ready for implementation in Altai Krai. All classes are free.

The 140-hour educational program provides for lectures, practical classes, including on the basis of a children's health camp, as well as independent work. The form of education is full-time and part-time using a distance format.

Students from among the specialists in the field of tourism of Altai Krai who specialize in organizing events for children and youth tourism are invited to study.

Selection criteria:

• professional education (secondary specialized, higher or additional education);

• work experience in the field of tourism for at least 1 year (with a confirmation document attached);

• referral (letter of recommendation) from the place of work, confirming the activity in the field of children's tourism.

Based on the results of the training, students will have to develop and present a tourist route program for schoolchildren. Those who successfully complete the training will receive a certificate of professional development.
