AltSU delegation got acquainted with the scientific centers of India and discussed cooperation plans

On March 8, the delegation of Altai Krai began work in the Republic of India. Among the participants of the delegation were representatives of Altai State University: Rector of Altai State University Sergey Bocharov, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development Roman Raikin and Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Development Alexander Dunets.

On March 10, representatives of AltSU visited the University of Kerala. First, they paid a visit to the Center for the Collective Use of Scientific Equipment (Center for Instrumentation and Facilitation). In the center, equipped with a wide range of modern scientific instruments, research work is carried out in the interests of various scientific teams. Thus, the center has an X-ray diffractometer, photoelectron and fluorescence spectrometers, an infrared Fourier spectrometer, a scanning electron microscope, an NMR spectrometer, DNA analyzers and other equipment. Head of the center, Professor G.M. Nair spoke about the system of work organization and the main tasks solved on the basis of the center.

Then the delegation of AltSU visited the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Kerala. Head of the department, Professor Ajay Nair reviewed the research agenda. The range of tasks to be solved includes the bioprocessing of poultry waste, in particular bird feathers, the development of enzymes for the food industry, including for the production of ethanol. The parties agreed to launch exchange programs and specify topics for joint projects.

In the afternoon, a meeting was held at the Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology. Director of the center, professor Chandrabas Narayana spoke about the main areas of research. The center specializes in medical biotechnology and genomic research. In particular, the center conducts research in the field of diagnosis and treatment of breast, laryngeal, and cervical cancer. Indian colleagues were interested in the work of the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center of AltSU. Also, the Center for Rajiv Gandhi develops its own test systems for diagnosing various diseases, works in the field of personalized medicine. A separate area is work in the field of biotechnology for the agro-industrial complex and the food industry. In particular, with the help of biotechnology, the resistance of ginger to various pathogens increases. There was a very informative tour of the laboratory complex of one of the three campuses of the center.

The parties discussed plans to develop cooperation in the designated areas, reached an agreement on the exchange of young scientists for internships.
