Altai State University, within the framework of the Priority 2030 Program, is implementing a project to train full-time students who have received additional qualifications in further vocational education programs.

Within the framework of the project, 28 further professional education programs will be implemented that meet market demands and new trends in education.

“The project will improve the system of further education of AltSU and bring it to a new level of development to meet the current needs of students. Students have a unique opportunity, in addition to the basic higher education, to receive additional qualifications free of charge, which will give more job opportunities. FVE programs do not duplicate the main curriculum, students receive completely new competencies, which contributes, among other things, to the solution of socially significant tasks facing Altai Krai and the Siberian Federal District,” said the program manager, head of the Department of Further Vocational Education, Candidate of Historical Sciences Alexander Skovorodnikov.

Further vocational education programs cover a variety of topical areas, including those related to digitalization and information technology (“Digital Culture”, “Digital Journalist in Modern Media”, “Technology to Work with Texts on the Internet”, “Fundamentals of Algorithmization and Programming in Python”, etc.). Programs in graphic design, interior design, art history, and healthy eating are in demand.

Among the first under the program, students of the Law Institute ("Fundamentals of State and Municipal Service"), the Institute of Geography ("Instructor-Guide", "Modern Methods of Processing Spatial Data: Geoinformation and Aerospace Technologies"), and the Institute of History and International Relations (“Digital Culture in the Humanities”). Currently, students from a number of areas of the Institute of Humanities and the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technologies are completing their studies. The rest of the institutes will finish their studies by September.

“At the end of April, the Department offered us a program of further vocational education “Modern Methods of Processing Spatial Data: Geoinformation and Aerospace Technologies.” I study at the Department of Physical Geography and Geoinformation Systems, so I'm interested in everything related to information processing. The program turned out to be quite short, but intensive. The information was presented in simple terms, I was especially interested in the topic related to monitoring and mapping using UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles),” Elizaveta Chesnokova, a student of INGEO, shared her impressions.

“I completed the FVE program “Instructor Guide”. It is more of an informational nature: I learned about the basics of safety on a tourist route, about the rules for selecting and storing food and cooking in the field. At the end of the program, I passed the final test, all my answers were correct. The topics in the course are interesting, and if I want to continue further education in this area, I can already complete the program for 72 hours and even 256 hours,” said Snezhana Lychagina, a student.

This year, 3,640 students of Altai State University will receive further vocational education, which accounts to 34% of the total number of  students. It is planned that by 2030, 100% of the students of the university will study under the FVE programs free of charge within the framework of the Priority 2030 Programs project.
