In September 2016 1st year master’s degree students of the Faculty of Law Anna Selina and Olga Kuzevanova participated in an international internship at the Institute of Law and Politics under Russian-Armenian University in the framework of academic mobility program. They were impressed by their trip and shared their amazing experience.

Anna Selina:

“On coming to Armenia we were warmly welcomed by volunteers, who showed us main tourist sights of the city, told us about education at Russian-Armenian University and local traditions. Host party’s authorities organized a convenient schedule, which allowed us travel around Erevan, learn more about Armenian traditions and daily routine, try their national cuisine.

A little problem was that they had no such application as 2GIS, so we had ask for directions all the time. On the other hand, it is always nice to meet new people. Everyone asked us if we had had any problems with the language. Armenia is a foreign country after all. Few people know that learning Russian is obligatory there, so we had no difficulties with communication.

I recommend students take an active part in academic mobility programs, visit Erevan and meet its hospitable citizens.”

Olga Kuzevanova:

“Of course, the most memorable moments are related to extracurricular time. We traveled around Armenia a lot. We went to Garni, Geghard, Khor Virap, Noravank, Lake Sevan, Shaki Waterfall, Tatev monastery. Armenian churches are different from ours. They have no golden domes, they are different inside, without excessive decorations. I was surprised at their particularity.

We had no difficulties. The university administration met our needs in terms of schedule. There was no language barrier, as everybody spoke Russian. Lectures and seminars were conducted in Russian.

I can give a couple pieces of advice though. It’s better to be willing to get new knowledge and learn something from the history of Armenia and some recent news in order to be updated. The majority of Armenians know a lot about Russia and are familiar with politics. And don’t be afraid of going abroad for new experiences.”

On 17 October 2016 three more students of the Faculty of Law will go to Erevan to become students of Russian-Armenian University for 10 days.
