AltSU graduate students Evgeny Vazhenin and Georgy Polosin in April 2023 completed an internship at the Graduate School of IT and Natural Sciences of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University Young scientists are studying under the joint educational program of Altai and East Kazakhstan universities "Digital data analysis technologies for the sustainable development of the regions of North and Central Asia."

Evgeniy Vazhenin (2-year master’s student at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technology) shares his impressions:

- For me, a trip to Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University was the first experience of staying outside the Russian Federation. During the internship, we took part in the international conference "Integration of Education-Science-Business: Problems and Prospects," and also worked in the laboratory of digital technologies and modeling. It is important for me that I got acquainted not only with the scientists from Kazakhstan, but also with the way of life in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, as well as topics of interest to its residents. The topics of scientific projects conducted by scientists in Kazakhstan are also interesting. Based on the results of the conference, I drew conclusions on how to improve the digital service that I am developing as part of my master's thesis. I am grateful to East Kazakhstan University for the warm welcome and incredible experience during the trip, and to Altai State University for giving me the opportunity to make this trip as part of the academic mobility program. I look forward to further close interaction both between our universities and between scientists and students.

Georgy Polosin (1st year master’s student at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technology) continues:

― The city of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University welcomed us very warmly and we were accommodated in a comfortable hostel. Next, we gave a speech at the conference and began our internship in the laboratory. The next day after the conference, we were invited to the plenary session, which came as a surprise to us. We were seated at a large table and introduced to all the participants. The internship took place on the basis of the laboratory of digital technologies and modeling, where we were also warmly welcomed. Thanks to the head - senior researcher Almasbek Maulit - for the opportunity to join the work in the laboratory and the team members. And all this together gave us an incredible impression of staying in Kazakhstan. I really appreciate these friendly, hospitable, kind and wise people! In the future, I would like to have such an internship again.

It should be noted that the performance of the master’s students was highly appreciated. According to the results of participation in the section "Scientific and applied aspects in the field of mathematics, physics and information technology", Evgeny Vazhenin took 1st place with the report "Development of the interactive digital service "The Greater Altai," and Georgy Polosin  2nd place with the report "Automation of data extraction: NDVI trends, Google Earth Engine and Python tools.”

Elena Ponkina (Candidate of Technical Sciences, Head of the Department of Theoretical Cybernetics and Applied Mathematics of Altai State University, Head of the Master’s Program) noted:

― This master's program is joint with Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, according to its profile, involves the acquaintance of master’s students with the problems and tasks of sustainable development in the countries of North and Central Asia, aims to develop new methods and applied IT in this area. Therefore, such internships are very important for both students and teachers, which makes it possible to find common points of interaction, common research topics. It is wonderful that our university supported such an internship, and our students did not let us down. In general, the development of academic mobility programs to foreign universities is always interesting and bears fruit in strengthening international relations between research teams. In turn, I would like to thank my colleagues from Kazakhstan, the Department of Computer Modeling and Information Systems - the head of the department Zaure Gadylzhanovna Kabdrakhmanova, the leaders of the joint master's program on the part of Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University - Marhaba Akhmetollinovna Karmenova, Anaigul Sobenovna Kadyrova, colleagues Zheneskul Zeineshovna Zhantasova, head of the Department of Mathematics Yerzhan Amangazynovich Malgazhdarov and Muratkan Nabenovich Madiyarov, head of the laboratory of digital technologies and modeling - senior researcher Almasbek Maulit and other colleagues for the warm welcome, organization of meetings with bachelors and undergraduates, provided opportunities for cooperation and valuable guidance to our students. Also, for the organization of our entire visit, special thanks to Saltanat Sailarbekovna Adikanova! We hope that our cooperation will develop further, and now we are waiting for students of the East Kazakhstan University for an internship.
