More than a ton of batteries and 150 kg of plastic caps were sent for recycling and disposal as part of the project “Ecology is Our Responsibility!” Its author and leader is Daniil Egorov, a master student of the Law Institute of Altai State University, Head of the Project Department of the Youth Government of Altai Krai.

In the project “Ecology is Our Responsibility!” more than 130 schools and kindergartens in Barnaul, Biysk, Rubtsovsk and Novoaltaisk, as well as six Barnaul universities participate: Altai State University, Altai State Agrarian University, the Altai Branch of the Presidential Academy, Altai State Pedagogical University, Altai State Technical University named after. I. I. Polzunov, and the Altai branch of the Financial University.

“Universities have shared schools and kindergartens and oversee the collection and removal of recyclables in Barnaul. There is a competitive moment here, whose wards will collect more batteries and caps. This is an additional motivating factor. In other cities, the project is coordinated by volunteer teams. The project has been operating for the third year already and I would like to say a big thank you for the activity to all schools, kindergartens and universities participating in the project, as well as partners and sponsors, thanks to whom the project operates, develops, and expands. These are Bochkari, Altailes, Leroy Merlin companies and the “A1 Imprint” printing house,” said Daniil Egorov.

The collected batteries were sent to the Megapolisresurs enterprise in Chelyabinsk. Caps are handled to a special collection point in Barnaul. The collection of caps for recycling continues, and the collection of waste paper is also ahead. The final summing up and awarding is planned at the end of the academic year.

Daniil Egorov's environmental project started in 2020 in Novoaltaisk with 10 schools and two kindergartens. Thanks to his idea, the student became the winner of the first season of the “Your Move” contest. It was there that the idea was born to connect universities to the project and give them curatorial responsibilities. By the way, in December it became known that Daniil became the winner of the second season of the “Your Move” contest.

“Students of Altai State University are among the winners of both seasons of the competition. It is very important that the university provides its students with the opportunity to participate in competitions, forums of this level, and pays for student travel. Participation in events of this format allows us to realize ourselves, expand our horizons and communications,” said Daniil Egorov.
