September 11 to 14, the XI international scientific and practical conference “Biotechnology: science and practice,” organized by the Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies, took place in the village of Novomikhailovsky, Tuapsinsky District, Krasnodar Krai.

More than 100 leading scientists, biotechnologists, geneticists, and molecular biologists from all over Russia and some foreign countries took part in the conference. Altai State University was represented by scientists from the Engineering Center “Prombiotech” and the Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center Ivan Evdokimov, Dina Dudnik, Petr Kolosov, Evgenia Kolosova and Ekaterina Belash.

The following areas (sections) were considered within the framework of the conference: “Industrial biotechnology and production of biologically active substances”, “Ecology, bioenergy and biogeotechnology”, “Medical biotechnology and biopharmaceutics”, “Bioinformatics, cellular and genetic engineering”, “Food biotechnology”, and “Agricultural biotechnology." Also, within the framework of the conference, a meeting of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association in the higher education system for an enlarged group of specialties and areas of training 19.00.00 Industrial Ecology and Biotechnology (FUMO) was held.

In the “Agricultural Biotechnology” section, Dina Dudnik gave a presentation on the topic “Selection of Bacillus spp. strains to create a biological preparation for animal husbandry,” for which she was awarded for the “best report by a young scientist.”

In the section “Bioinformatics, cellular and genetic engineering” Evgenia Kolosova made a report on the topic “Optimization of conditions for the expression of recombinant antigen candidates for vaccines against coenurosis.” Ekaterina Belash spoke in the poster section on the topic “Development of an integrative vector for the expression of recombinant human angiogenin in the yeast Saccharomyces boulardii.” Petr Kolosov presented a report on the topic “Optimization of conditions for the expression of recombinant mutant Taq polymerase” in the section “Ecology, bioenergy and biogeotechnology.” Ivan Evdokimov gave a presentation in the section “Industrial biotechnology and production of biologically active substances” on the topic “Development of a probiotic for aquaculture based on Bacillus toyonensis B-13249 and B.pumilus B-13250.”

All reports evoked positive responses for the high level of elaboration of the topics and professionalism in the field of study, a high degree of interest among biotechnologists, accompanied by various questions, recommendations and discussion.

Participation in the conference was realized thanks to the financial support of the Priority 2030 strategic projects program.
