AltSU professor Yuri Goncharov works as a visiting professor at Urgench University in Uzbekistan

On October 17, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of National History of the Institute of History and International Relations of Altai State University, Yuri Goncharov, delivered a lecture “Culture is a state of mind” dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Likhachev to the students of the Faculty of History of Urgench State University.

Then a meeting was held with Rector of Urgench State University Bakhrom Abdullayev. From the Uzbek side, the meeting was attended by a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mukhtar Ibragimov, Vice-Rector for educational work Sardor Khodzhaniezov and Head of the Department of History Utkir Abdullayev. A dialogue took place between the two universities on the issues of exchanging experience, establishing cooperation on joint training of personnel in master's, postgraduate, doctoral studies, organizing joint scientific conferences, more effective organization of teaching the Russian language in cooperation with professors and teachers of Altai State University.

This is the second time when Yuri Goncharov teaches at the Urgench State University at the invitation of his Uzbek colleagues. In April 2022, he delivered a course of lectures on world history.

During the autumn trip, Professor Goncharov presents to colleagues in Uzbekistan the strategic project of the Priority 2030 program “Sociocultural and civilizational heritage of the Greater Altai as the basis of stability and integration” (headed by Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, Professor Yulia Lysenko) and a project led by Head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, Professor Lidia Dmitrieva, who received support under the state program of the Russian Federation "Development of Education" (activities aimed at the full functioning and development of the Russian language).
