Autumn profile shifts within the framework of the Smart Holidays with AltSU project

Since October 26, 2020, the implementation of the Smart Holidays with AltSU  project has continued. During the first week of school autumn holidays, about 60 children of Altai Krai took part in specialized shifts free of charge. 5 specialized shifts from 4 institutes of Altai State University have been conducted. Classes were held in different formats: online and offline.

The lecturers of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology successfully carried out two specialized sessions in full-time format: "Biodiversity of the animal world" and "Biodiversity of the flora". The shift participants learned how to conduct independent research using the laboratory equipment, got acquainted with the direction of "Robotics" and the Lego WeDo constructor. In the course of the profile shift, the schoolchildren created a robot butterfly, a robot spider, a flying bird, and the children also visited the Altai Center for Applied Biotechnology and the laboratory Museum of Nature.

From 26 to 31 October, a profile session "The Amazing World of Sociology" took place in a distance format, which was prepared by the staff of the Institute of Social Sciences. The program included games and quests, during which the winners were identified and awarded.

Leading teachers of the Department of Linguistics, Translation and Foreign Languages prepared a specialized session "The Wonderful World of Translation" for students of grades 8-10. Participants learned about objective and subjective factors of translation, difficulties of English grammar and translation of culturally specific vocabulary. They talked about the features of written and oral consecutive translation. As a result, the guys easily completed the practical translation tasks.

Pupils who are fond of psychology were able to attend the profile session "Formula for Success: Development of Leadership Qualities" from the teachers of the Institute of Psychology. The schoolchildren did some training exercises to master the techniques of self-regulation and stress relief.

After participating in the autumn profile shifts, the children left positive feedback with the hope for further cooperation with teachers and students of Altai State University.

In the second week of school holidays, 7 specialized shifts are planned from 4 institutes of Altai State University: International Institute of Economics, Management and Information Systems, Law Institute, Institute of Digital Technologies, Electronics and Physics, Institute of Chemistry and Chemical-Pharmaceutical Technologies.
