Russian-American Anti-Cancer Center of Altai State University has summarized the results of its activities in 2015.

On the World Cancer Day the meeting was held, where Chief Physician of Altai Regional Oncologic Dispensary, Honoured Doctor of Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A.F. Lazarev, director of Altai Regional Pulmonology Center, Honoured Science Worker of the Russian Federation, Russian Academy of Sciences corresponding member, Professor Yakov N. Shoyhet and ASU Rector, Doctor of Law, Professor Sergey V. Zemlyukov participated.

The outcome of the meeting was the workplan for 2016, where the oncological diseases for center’s research were determined.

“In 2015 we developed immunosignature for breast cancer. This year we are going to continue our research and to start collecting samples of six more oncological diseases – lung cancer, stomach cancer, etc. We do this in order to prove the test’s significance and see if it is possible to use this test to classify and diagnose different types of cancer,” explained Anti-Cancer Center executive director, Candidate of Biology Andrey I. Shapoval.

Andrey I. Shapoval called the development of breast cancer immunosignature the main outcome of 2015. Despite the fact that this work was conducted jointly with the American colleagues and delivered positive results, it requires additional analysis.

Moreover, head of the Innovative Medicine Center of the University of Arizona (the USA) Stephan Johnston invited Altai scientists to participate in the seminar on oncology, which will be held in May 2016 on the premises of the University of Arizona. The meeting participants discussed the issue and decided to form the delegation to this international scientific forum.
