Professor Svetlana Maksimova awarded a diploma of honor from the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation

At the meeting of the Public Chamber of Altai Krai on October 17, a ceremonial awarding of regional public figures with federal and regional awards took place. Among them is Professor, Head of the Department of Social and Youth Policy of the Institute of Social Sciences Svetlana Maksimova, who received from the hands of the Chairman of OPAC Yuri Shamkov a certificate of honor of the federal level – the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation – for her significant contribution to the development of civil society institutions in Altai Krai.

The sociologist has been actively contributing to the implementation of the “third mission of the university” for more than twenty years – she is the chairman of the board of the Altai regional public organization of psychological and social support and health care “Positive Development”, a member of the scientific council “Socio-political and demographic problems of the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) )" at the Department of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, she heads the Resource Center for the development of civil initiatives and promoting the integration of peoples and cultures in Altai Krai, is a member of the Public Chamber of Altai Krai of 5-8 convocations.

Under the leadership of Professor Maksimova, a huge amount of scientific research and sociological examinations have been carried out on current problems of social development of Altai Krai, long-term monitoring has been carried out in the field of the development of civil society, interethnic and interfaith relations, and drug addiction among the population. Thanks to her active public position, Altai State University has been a platform for the International Scientific Forum “Social Integration and Development of Ethnic Cultures in the Eurasian Space” for more than ten years. On the basis of the university and with the active participation of the teaching staff of the Institute of Social Sciences, public educational projects supported by the Presidential Grants Fund are carried out, a competitive grant program from the Governor of Altai Krai for socially oriented non-profit organizations, such as the scientific and educational project “The Greater Altai: Foresight 2050”, the youth educational project “Siberian Frontier: Ethnocultural Spaces, Symbols and Practices”, projects for young leaders and ethnocultural NGOs “ Inclusive technologies for the integration and adaptation of migrants in the educational environment”, “Integration of migrants: resources, education and ethnocultural codes” and many others.
