Timurites among us: the “Boomerang” volunteer squad of Altai State University provides targeted assistance
One of the areas of work of the volunteer squad “Boomerang” of Altai State University is social volunteering. Students cooperate with the Regional Youth Palace and social protection, and provide targeted help to those in need. Organizations contact the students and submit applications. Our volunteers never keep out of it.
– Our volunteers are very responsible; they always do their best and give a piece of their heart. That’s why they turn to us for help and talk about us,” shared Elena Saraikina, Head of the “Boomerang” volunteer squad.
The guys have been visiting weightlifter Sergei Lovyagin for more than a month. The athlete was injured in the past and now he needs care. Volunteers visit the man several times a week, clean the flat, buy necessary food, and cook. The guys help with minor repairs and other household issues. For the students and Sergei, such weekly meetings turned into a strong friendship.
