Students from 26 countries took part in the International New Year celebration at the Institute of Humanities of Altai State University

25 December 2023 Institute of Humanities

A festive event took place at the Institute of Humanities of Altai State University, which has rightfully become one of the good traditions organized at the Institute of Humanities on the eve of the New Year.

This is the International New Year – a holiday for which every year the administration of the institute and its student activists come up with new original formats. So, for example, to see off 2023 and welcome 2024, a real multinational festival of creative stations was organized in the foyer of the Altai State University concert hall, where students from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Russia talked about the features of celebrating the New Year Eve in their country, organized master -classes, and demonstrated cultural traditions of their people. For example, Kazakh students introduced the event participants to the tradition of celebrating the beginning of the New Year in their country called “Shashu,” and the students from Kyrgyzstan showed the features of their favorite game “Alchiki.”

And, of course, the central figures of this holiday were Father Frost and Snow Maiden, who not only hosted the entire event, but also gave gifts to its participants for reciting New Year's poems and singing songs at the New Year tree.

“New Year is a kind, magical holiday from childhood, which reminds us that there are no boundaries for friendly communication, no matter what country you come from. And for our multinational institute, this is another opportunity to help foreign students establish relationships with each other,” emphasizes Director of the Institute of Humanities of Altai State University, Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor Larisa Nekhvyadovich. “Today, students representing about 30 countries of the world study at the Institute of Humanities, so our pedagogical work is based, first of all, on nurturing friendly relations among students. To this end, we organize all kinds of festivals, competitions, excursion and cultural and entertainment events for young people coming to us from abroad, which help them better adapt to an unfamiliar environment. The International New Year is one such example.”

We would like to add that students from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, Bolivia, Libya, Somalia, Nigeria, Egypt, Chad, Uganda, Angola, Mauritania, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Congo, South Africa, Central African Republic, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar and Bangladesh took part in the International New Year at Altai State University.

The holiday ended with the decoration of the New Year tree with New Year's personalized balls and a ring dance of friendship.
