The journal of Altai State University “Peoples and Religions of Eurasia” is included in the unified bibliographic and abstract database of peer-reviewed scientific literature Scopus. The founder of the journal is the Department of Regional Studies of Russia, National and State-Confessional Relations, the editor-in-chief is Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department Peter Dashkovsky.

The journal dates back to 2007, when it was first published as an annual collection of scientific articles, and since 2016 – as the journal “Worldview of the Population of Southern Siberia and Central Asia in Historical Retrospective.” Since 2017, the journal has been called “Peoples and Religions of Eurasia” and in 2020 it was included in the list of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, in which the main scientific results of dissertations in candidacy for scientific degrees of doctor and candidate of sciences should be published.

“Over the course of several years, the editorial board of the journal and some colleagues from our department have done a tremendous amount of work to develop the journal,” comments editor-in-chief Peter Dashkovsky. “The procedure for selecting journals for indexing in the Scopus database is very complex and lengthy and, unfortunately, not everyone manages to complete it. The scientific authority of the members of the editorial board, the citation rate of articles, and the geographic coverage of the authors, who should be not only from different cities of Russia, but also from other countries, are taken into account. Particular attention is paid to assessing the level and relevance of articles by the global scientific community, as well as the accessibility and quality of the journal’s website and the level of English. Information about the inclusion of our journal was received on the very eve of the New Year, 2024, and we expect that after some formalities the indexing of the journal’s articles in the database will begin.”

The inclusion of the journal in the SCOPUS database is a milestone not only for the university, but for many colleagues who are engaged in scientific research in the field of archaeology, ethnography, history and religious studies both in Russia and abroad, emphasizes Professor Dashkovsky. This makes it possible to make the results of scientific research available to a huge scientific audience from around the world.

The editor-in-chief of the journal thanked the members of the editorial board, colleagues from the department, authors, and especially Head of the Office for the Development of Publication Activities and Enhancement of Academic Reputation of Altai State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Alexander Matsyura for serious consulting support.

The editorial board of the journal “Peoples and Religions of Eurasia” invites authors to further fruitful cooperation and publication of their materials in the areas of “Archaeology and ethnocultural history”, “Ethnology and national politics”, “Religious studies and state-confessional relations”.

The journal accepts articles in Russian and English.
