Since the beginning of the academic year, the International Higher School of Biotechnology has been operating at Altai State University. It was established as part of the university’s strategic technological project under the Priority 2030 program and aims to accelerate the training of specialists with leadership qualities in bioeconomics.
The Institute of Biology and Biotechnology organized a meeting between students of the International Higher School of Biotechnology and representatives of the professional community. First-year students met with Sergey Terekhov, Director of Technological Development, and Alexey Kudinov, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Head of the Department of New Developments and Finished Product Quality Improvement at the company Technology-Standard, as well as with Nadezhda Barysheva, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Senior Researcher and Head of the Grain Quality Assessment Laboratory at the Federal Altai Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnology (FANCA).
Technology-Standard specializes in the production and supply of reagents and kits for assessing the hemostasis system. The Institute of Biology and Biotechnology (IBB) closely cooperates with the company: several graduates of the Biochemistry and Biotechnology program are already successfully employed there, and a joint research project is currently being implemented.
During the meeting, Sergey Terekhov and Alexey Kudinov introduced students to the company’s key development areas, discussed the technologies required for successful business growth, and outlined prospects for students interested in this professional field. The company expressed its readiness to organize guided tours for students, mentor them in solving professional challenges during internships and thesis work, and provide future employment opportunities for institute graduates.
The Federal Altai Scientific Center for Agrobiotechnology is one of the Institute’s key partners. Many members of the Center’s staff are alumni of the Institute, and some actively participate in its educational activities — teaching classes, supervising student research, and organizing internships. Nadezhda Barysheva spoke in detail about FANCA’s structure and departmental areas, highlighting current research and innovations. She also presented opportunities for students interested in agrobiotechnology, molecular genetic studies aimed at accelerating breeding processes, the development of propagation and cultivation technologies for horticultural crops, and biochemical research.
The presentations by industry representatives sparked keen interest among the students of the International Biotechnology School. A lively discussion followed, with students asking questions and receiving thorough answers. For many, the meeting reaffirmed the value and relevance of their chosen field of study.
