From May 12 to 13, a conference of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. During the event, the Forum of Rectors of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization took place at Xinjiang University, where Sergey Bocharov, Rector of Altai State University, delivered a speech.
In his report, titled "Altai State University's Experience in Cooperation with Chinese Partners in the Field of Sustainable Development," Bocharov outlined the main directions of scientific and educational collaboration with Chinese universities and introduced the forum’s wide audience to the priority development areas of Altai State University.
It is important to note that the key topics of joint scientific and technological projects between Altai State University and its Chinese partners include the study of the Greater Altai’s biodiversity, identification of promising medicinal plant species, tourism and sustainable development, trade and economic cooperation between the Greater Altai regions, as well as the archaeology of Central Asia and China.
Literally in a week, the International Conference of Subregional Cooperation "The Greater Altai" will be held in the city of Altai, XUAR, China, in which a delegation from our university will take part. Today, more than 2,000 foreign students are studying at Altai State University, of which about 500 are students from China.
It is worth mentioning that Altai State University is the leading university in the Asian part of Russia and consistently prioritizes international cooperation with countries in Central and Southeast Asia.
Since 2012, Altai State University has been a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Network University, serving as a base institution in fields such as regional studies, ecology, and economics. In 2013, at the initiative of Altai State University, the Association of Asian Universities was established, now comprising over 120 partner universities, including many from China.
Altai State University successfully operates the Research and Educational Center for Altaic and Turkic studies, known as "The Greater Altai." In addition, the university actively participates in the activities of the international coordinating council "Our Common Home Altai."
In just one week, the International Conference on Subregional Cooperation "The Greater Altai" will take place in Altai city, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China, with a delegation from our university set to participate.
Currently, more than 2,000 international students are enrolled at Altai State University, approximately 500 of whom are from China.
