During a visit to Kyrgyzstan, representatives from the Research and Educational Center for Altaic and Turkic Studies "The Greater Altai" at Altai State University engaged with partner universities and museums to advance collaboration within the framework of the virtual museum project, "The Greater Altai – The Ancestral Homeland of the Turks." A significant outcome of this visit was the signing of a comprehensive scientific research cooperation agreement between the Republican Archaeological and Architectural Museum Complex "Burana Tower" of the Kyrgyz Republic and Altai State University.
The delegation from Altai State University, led by Professor Yulia Lysenko, Director of the Research and Educational Center for Altaic and Turkic Studies "The Greater Altai" and Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, also included Professor Alexey Tishkin, Head of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnography and Museology; Associate Professor Vadim Gorbunov of the same department; Professor Alla Kovaleva from the Department of Journalism, Media and Advertising; and Associate Professor Sergey Bondarenko, Research Associate of the R&D Support Department.
– This year, our Center continues its active efforts to enrich the virtual museum’s collection with artifacts from the Turkic period. Although we have already established cooperation agreements with museums across Russia and Central Asia, we remain committed to expanding our network and attracting new partners to further enhance the collection. Our staff have photographed exhibits from the Turkic period and are currently preparing them for inclusion in the virtual museum. The updated version of the virtual museum will be presented in September at the IV International Altaic Forum, Yulia Lysenko noted.
