The Institute of Biology and Biotechnology (IBB) at Altai State University has successfully passed state accreditation for the Biotechnology program (April 19, 2001).

This is the third year that Altai State University has offered the master's program titled Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology. At the end of March, the Rosobrnadzor Accreditation Commission conducted a comprehensive assessment of education quality. The key criterion was the proportion of students who successfully completed the diagnostic test. The students actively prepared for several months and demonstrated the highest level of professional competencies, achieving the maximum score on the test results.

Successful completion of state accreditation confirms the quality of education and guarantees the issuance of state-recognized diplomas. This year in connection with Russia's national project Technological Support for the Bioeconomy, IBB has developed a new master's program titled Biotechnology and Bioeconomy, within direction 19.04.01 Biotechnology. Galina Sokolova, Head of the Department of Ecology, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, and Professor, explained the details:

"The previous program was developed jointly with Sibbiopharm LLC with a focus on industrial microbiology. Part-time students have already successfully graduated, and full-time students are preparing to graduate. Due to changing public policy in our country, we decided to expand this program, and it now covers not only industrial microbiology but also bioeconomy. Our region is an agricultural region with a developed food and processing industry, so it is important to train specialists skilled in technologies for the use of renewable biological resources, creating closed production cycles, and minimizing environmental impact."

The master's degree will be offered part-time. This educational program represents the next step in a multi-level, seamless model for training specialists in biochemistry and biotechnology, implemented within the International Higher School of Biotechnology.

Graduates of the master's program will acquire professional competencies that will enable them to work in the food, processing, and pharmaceutical industries.
