The Preparatory Department for Foreign Students at the Institute of Humanities, Altai State University, awarded a record number of certificates for the successful completion of its educational programs.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, 52 foreign nationals received certificates confirming their mastery of preparatory programs designed to ready them for professional education in Russian across four fields: humanitarian, economic, engineering, and natural sciences.

"For 10 months, foreign students intensively studied Russian, the language of their future field, alongside specialized subjects taught in Russian according to their area of study: history, social studies, literature, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computer science for 4-8 hours daily. Our students successfully passed their final exams, having received their certificates, are now prepared to continue their studies in Russia in the upcoming academic year," said Alena Kintsel, Head of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Students at the Institute of Humanities of ASU, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor.

All foreign citizens began learning Russian as complete beginners. Therefore, the primary goal of the program was the intensive development of skills in understanding spoken and written language, reading, speaking, and writing in Russian. Experienced teachers from the preparatory department, who have undergone specialized professional retraining in the methodology and practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL) at the university, diligently and patiently instructed the students in various aspects of the Russian language.

"Altai State University is an international university. We take pride in the fact that many students from the Preparatory Department for Foreign Students at the Institute of Humanities go on to become successful students both here and at other universities across the Russian Federation. Studying abroad is challenging: alongside the academic demands, students must adapt to new living conditions, including the harsh weather characterized by frost and snow. For this reason, we are especially grateful to our foreign students for their patience and dedication. Most of them, upon graduation, will become leaders in their respective fields, fostering international cooperation between their home countries and Russia. I am confident that each of them will enjoy a prosperous future," said Roman Raikin, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Development at ASU, while congratulating foreign students on their special day.

It is worth noting that this academic year, students from Ethiopia, the Republic of Chad, Somalia, Zambia, Benin, Congo, Angola, Gambia, the Union of Comoros, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Mongolia, China, Indonesia, Colombia, and Ecuador studied Russian at the Institute of Humanities at Altai State University.
